Orange County

Home is the coast.

Matrix Digital Systems is based in Fountain Valley, ten minutes from the water. Orange County is where the studio started in 2003, where most of our senior programmers live, and where the vast majority of our long-term service clients keep their homes.

The home market

Two decades along the OC coast.

Orange County is the reason Matrix Digital Systems exists. From the first coastal remodels in Corona del Mar in the mid-2000s, to the current wave of Newport Coast new-builds and Coto de Caza estate additions, the county has always been our anchor. It's where we know the architects, the interior designers, the general contractors, the inspectors, and — quietly — the concierges who introduce us to the next family moving in.

That familiarity matters more than it seems. When a project comes together fast — a client wants their theater calibrated before the family arrives for Thanksgiving, an architect needs a low-voltage plan Tuesday for a Friday permit submittal — we can shortcut the parts that slow other integrators down. Local suppliers, local sub-trades, local site foremen, all of whom we've worked alongside for years.

Coastal Newport Beach residence.

A hillside contemporary home in Newport Coast with a whole-home Crestron platform, Kaleidescape movie library, Lutron shading throughout, and a dedicated media room built inside a converted garage bay.

The project ran across fifteen months from schematic design to final calibration and included coordination with the architect on structural changes to accommodate a Barco Residential projector and Stealth Acoustics in-wall screen speakers.

The local craft

What's different about an OC coastal home.

Salt air is the first thing we design against. Outdoor speakers, cameras, TVs, and shade motors within a mile of the beach fail faster if you spec them like an inland project. We default to marine-grade Coastal Source landscape audio, Séura outdoor displays, and stainless mount hardware on any home west of PCH — the up-front cost is small compared to the cost of replacing a rusted amp channel in year three.

The second thing is the light. Coastal glass walls and open floor plans mean shade automation isn't a luxury — it's the difference between a house you can watch a movie in and one you can't. We spend disproportionate time on Lutron Sivoia QS Triathlon shade layouts on OC projects because the west-facing exposure on most Newport and Corona del Mar homes demands it.

The third is the pace. OC clients move fast and expect to close out. We staff senior programmers on OC jobs so decisions can be made in the field rather than routed back to the studio. Every OC project has one lead engineer from schematic through hand-off.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Do you offer service memberships in Orange County?

Yes. Every Matrix Digital Systems install includes a one-year integration warranty, and the majority of our long-term Orange County clients stay on our Studio or Reserve service memberships, which include 24/7 remote monitoring and annual on-site reviews.

How quickly can you get on-site for OC service calls?

Fountain Valley is central to the county — typically 15–45 minutes from most OC neighborhoods. Studio and Reserve members get same-business-day response for business-hours calls.

Which OC architects and interior designers do you work with?

We work with most of the residential architecture and interior design firms active in Newport Coast, Corona del Mar, Laguna, Dana Point, and Coto de Caza. Introductions are welcome — contact us for references.

Planning a project in Orange County?

Most of our projects begin with a short call, then a walk-through of the house or the blueprints. We'd like to hear about it.
