Austin & Hill Country

Homes across the Hill Country.

Matrix Digital Systems opened a Central Texas location in 2026 to serve the Austin luxury residential market — Hill Country new construction, West Lake Hills and Rollingwood remodels, and the modernist glass boxes appearing along the 360 corridor. Consultations by appointment.

Why Austin

The Hill Country is a design moment.

Austin's residential construction cycle is different from Southern California's. Where OC and LA are dominated by remodels and tear-down rebuilds, Central Texas has a robust new-construction market driven by land availability west of the city. New-construction integration is a different craft — you're pulling wire before the drywall, coordinating low-voltage during framing, and finishing systems at the same time as final trim.

We opened the Central Texas location because our OC and LA clients kept asking us to work on their Texas houses. Enough of them moved to or built second homes in Austin and Dallas that maintaining a Texas project without a Texas presence stopped being tenable. The Central Texas base handles Austin and the Hill Country directly and coordinates with our California team on any project touching both markets.

The project ran alongside a 14-month new-construction schedule and included lift-and-shift glass automation, outdoor Coastal Source landscape audio, and a dedicated media room in the lower level.

The local craft

What's different about a Hill Country home.

The first difference is the climate. Central Texas summers punish outdoor gear. We spec landscape audio and outdoor displays with heat and humidity tolerances that would be overkill in California — Séura outdoor TVs, Coastal Source landscape audio with sealed enclosures, and mount hardware rated for direct sun exposure at 105°F+. Rack cooling gets the same treatment: any hot-side rack we install in Texas gets active exhaust and supplemental cooling budget.

The second is the glass. Hill Country modernist homes are almost entirely glass — 20-foot lift-and-shift walls, floor-to-ceiling curtain systems, huge west-facing exposures over the water. Shade automation isn't optional. We default to Lutron Sivoia QS on Hill Country projects, sized for the actual solar load and integrated with HVAC so the house can pre-cool before the afternoon sun hits.

The third is the build cycle. Central Texas builders move fast. A Hill Country new-construction project can go from foundation to move-in in 12–14 months. That timeline is only workable if the integrator is in the field at schematic design, not after drywall. On our first Texas projects, we're staffing a senior programmer full-time on-site for the finish-out phase.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Are you licensed in Texas?

Texas does not require a general low-voltage license for residential AV integration at the state level. Where a specific municipality or homeowner association requires additional permitting, we coordinate with the general contractor and the AHJ. All of our work is performed to CEDIA and manufacturer certification standards.

How does the Texas team coordinate with the California studio?

Design and engineering are led out of California. Our Central Texas base handles on-site work, site meetings, and service calls in Austin and the Hill Country. Remote monitoring and 24/7 support are handled from the California studio for both regions.

Are you taking new Austin projects for 2026?

Yes. Our Central Texas team is actively bidding new-construction and remodel projects in Austin, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Lakeway, Bee Cave, and Dripping Springs for 2026 and 2027 delivery. Call (737) 321-0121 or email [email protected].

Planning a project in Austin?

Most of our projects begin with a short call, then a walk-through of the house or the blueprints. We'd like to hear about it.
