Matrix Digital Systems is a residential AV integration studio based in Fountain Valley, California, with a new second location in Central Texas serving Austin and Dallas. We've spent two decades quietly building systems for luxury homes — and we've kept the firm small on purpose.
Integrators. Not installers.
We believe the difference between an installer and an integrator is the design work that happens before anyone arrives with a screwdriver. A spec sheet is not a system. A room is.
We design every project room by room, in coordination with architects, interior designers, and builders. We engineer the low-voltage. We program the control system. We calibrate the rooms ourselves. And we are the team that picks up the phone five years later.
Our work is exclusively residential. We don't do commercial projects, retail rollouts, or templated product installs. This means every home we build is a design project — and every relationship continues long past the punch-list.
The studio was founded in the early 2000s by Michael Van Marel, who still leads design and programming on every project.
Southern California & Central Texas.
Our home studio is on Kalama River Avenue in Fountain Valley. From there we've worked for two decades across Orange County, the Los Angeles basin, and into the Coachella Valley.
In 2026 we opened a second location in Central Texas to serve luxury residential projects in the Austin Hill Country and the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex. Same studio, same principals, same design-first approach — now within an hour of two of the country's fastest-growing luxury home markets.
